Bred by Canadian seed bank BC Bud Depot, Animal Cookies is a cross between perennial Girl Scout Cookies and Indica-hybrid Fire OG. Cannabis lab Analytical 360 has measured its THC percentage at between 18% and an impressive 27%.
Appearance & Aroma
Animal Cookies are distinguished by small to medium-sized popcorn-like nugs with a dense flower structure similar to other Indica varieties. Leaves are yellowish-green; some phenotypes can display subtle purple shades. This purple is brought out when cooler temperatures stimulate pigments called anthocyanins — the process is similar to how foliage changes colour in fall when chlorophyll breaks down in colder weather.
Animal Cookies has an aroma that is simultaneously sweet and sour, with a dank, skunky edge. The buds are sticky and covered in cloudy white amber trichomes, possibly lending the leaves their yellowish look. Orange hairs — which are pistils to collect pollen from male plants — are noticeable against the colourful flowers—breaking open the sticky buds yields some more notes of pine and pepper.
Effects & Benefits
Animal Cookies has a high that settles in quite quickly for a mainly Indica strain. Users may not have finished coughing before being hit with a palpable stoney feeling that affects the entire body. Without any cerebral intensity, this cannabis strain does not confer the kind of rapid-association thoughtfulness that comes with more pure Sativa types. The deep relaxation that Animal Cookies provides can melt into a strong couchlock if users continue to indulge in its potent bud. Emotional well-being follows this relaxation so that users typically feel remarkably content and comfortable.
These physical impacts also make Animal Cookies an effective painkiller with medical treatment. Users suffering from mild or more chronic, nerve-based injury report an easing or a complete relief of symptoms. This strain’s heaviness also makes it an effective treatment for users who struggle with insomnia. Mentally, Animal Cookies can also help treat anxiety and stress, as it renders users happily oblivious in its stoney haze. More suggested for nighttime than daytime use, Animal Cookies are not usually recommended for helping users accomplish work.
